Welcome to Our Company

Have you thought about what you are going to do for your new employee to make them feel welcomed?  No?  Well, maybe you should.  Making a new employee feel like they are part of the team right off the bat, will make them motivated to do the best they can do for you…Do you remember your first day on the job?  You didn’t know anyone, you didn’t even know the job…this is what your new employee is feeling.  Taking time to help them to get to know their co-workers, will help them settle in and start being a productive worker.

Another reason to welcome a new employee is so they know your company cares about them and that you want them to succeed.

So, how do you welcome a new employee?  Start with a Welcome letter.  Make sure you take this opportunity to let them know how happy you are they are working for your company and let them know who they will be working with…Make sure it is signed by everyone in their department, so that they know everyone is welcoming them to the company.

You can also do a company letter that gives them some background on the company.  It can let them know a little about the people they are going to be working for…how long they have been with the company, etc.

You can also get to know them at this time.  Let them fill out a list of questions, so that you can get to know them better.  This will help you know what types of rewards they might like down the road.

A new hire packet will give them all the information they need for their job.  It can have a list of the holidays your company takes off, how your company’s pay period works, and you can include something just for them…a tablet with their name on it, so they can take notes while they are learning…a canvas bag with the company logo so they have something to carry all their new items in…

You can even ease the nerves with a little fun…give then a pack of certs with a card that says:  “We’re CERTain you are a great fit for our company.” or something along that line…they might get a little chuckle out of it and start feeling more relaxed from that moment on.
