Recruiting Employees

Recruiting Employees for a new position doesn’t always have to be done in the Help Wanted Ads of your local newspaper and most of the time, this isn’t how you are going to find the best employee for the job.  Here is a list of some new and not so new ways to find that new hire.Start by recruiting from within your business.  Do you have someone that is doing a great job and who has the qualities to do something new?  If so, why not promote them to the new posistion?

Speaking of staff, why not ask them if they know anyone who would do a good job.  Offer them something in return…a reward of sorts if they know someone that would make a great employee…they aren’t likely to bring you someone who won’t work, etc. because they have their own reputation to protect.

Do you keep your old applications/resumes from past interviews? You should, at least the good ones.   You never know what might happen when you hire someone.  They might not work out or for health reasons have to leave.  If you’ve kept the other good applicants, then you can start there before putting the expense out there again to advertise the job.

Have you ever thought about checking with the local high school or college (now I know this would depend on the type of job you have available, but if you can find someone who is being recommended by the school/college then this is twofold.  They want to do good because this is what they are training for and because they are learning about this type of work, they might be easier to train and even be eager to show you a few ‘new’ things that is out there now.

Internet sites such as:  CareerBuilders.com, Monster.com, HotJobs.com, etc. are making it easier to get your job posting out into the world and not just locally.  You can search through thousands of resumes on these sites and find just that perfect one.

See if your company can be part of a job fair/ career fair in your area.  You will get to talk to a lot of people all in one place and get a lot of interviews done without having to advertise.

So as you can see there are a lot of different ways to find a good employee.  Why not try these the next time you are looking to hire, you might find that you will see a different type of person interviewing for the job.
