Pay it Forward for Your Customers
My last post, What a Great Idea, I told you about the Random Act of Kindness idea and gave you some examples of how to share this kindness with your employees, but I’ve been thinking about this and I’ve come up with some simple ideas for you to do with your customers. My thinking here, is that your employees will be so impressed with your Acts of Kindness that they will want to pay it forward and do their own Acts of Kindness. But just in case they don’t catch the kindness boat, I have a list of things you can ‘ask’ them to do:
- Mail a note out to your customers and let them know how much you appreciate them. If you are retail, then why not drop a note in their bags when they purchase something.
- Give your customers something free. Keep track of your customers and the 25th/50th/100th customer gets a little something extra. Now what you give will depend on your business…maybe a gift card for $25, $50, or $100 if you are in retail. Or free lunch for two if you are a restaurant. Or small sample hand lotions, etc.
- Set up an area for free coffee and donuts or some other snack and drink. Work with the holidays…St Patrick’s Day is coming up, why not have some green punch and some sugar cookies shaped like shamrocks, etc.
- Plan a fun evening or day for your customers…do a cookout or rent your local swimming pool for the evening.
- Pick the unusual holidays and figure out something to do for your customers . Lollipop Day? Hand out lollipops and so on…
These ideas are more for smaller businesses, but hopefully, you can see where I’m going with this. Find some simple ways to give back to your customers and they will keep coming back.
