Knowing What Kind of Boss You Are
Okay, so we’ve talked about knowing your staff, motivating your staff, managing your staff, compensating your staff, communicating with your staff, knowing what is wrong with your business and now I want to talk about Knowing What Kind of Boss You Are…Day 8 – Knowing what kind of boss you are
You have to decide for yourself what kind of boss you want to be. Do you want to be a good boss or a great boss? Do you want to be a boss your team looks up to or do you want to be a boss your team talks bad about?
Once you know what kind of boss you want to be, then you need to look at the kind of boss you are, so you can see if you fit where you want to be.
Think about these things, if you want to be a great boss:
- Does your staff know what you want from them? Do they know you don’t just want them to spot check for cleanliness…you want them to clean. Do they know that you don’t’ want them to just say “hi” to the customers…you want them to communicate and help the customer…
- Do they know that you want them to succeed and their success helps the company succeed? They know what they can do to be successful?
- Are you a positive boss? Do you show them enthusiasm and encouragement?
Finding out the type of boss you are, will help you be a better boss. If you encourage your employees to be honest about what they think (being respectful and anonymous) of you as a boss, will help you grow as a person.
It will also let your employees know that you really do care about them and what they think and you really do what to work as a team.
