We all like to think we have a good company.  And our employees couldn’t find a better place to work no matter how hard they try.  But that isn’t always the case.

If you never look for what’s wrong, you will one day find your business has failed.

You need to look for the bad things in your company.  And when I say look, I mean open your eyes and really see what is wrong.  That is the only way you will know how to correct them.

Think about the Scrooge.  He thought he paid his employee good wages and that he had good working conditions, but once he really saw how things were, he realized what a good employee he had and what a horrible work place he had him working in.

What runs smoothly and why?  What doesn’t and how can you change it?  Allowing your staff to help form a solution will let them know you feel they are a team and you value their opinions.  You might even be surprised at the great ideas they have for improving your business.

I see a lot of t.v. shows where a successful business person, for whatever type of business it is, comes to another not-so successful business and they look for the bad things.  This is so they know what they need to correct.  And this is what they concentrate on.  That’s what you need to do.  You need to spend some time on the bad, so that you can make your business better.

Just remember, even the best run businesses have their faults.  The difference is, they know what they are and they correct them.
